After half a day on buses from Diyarbikar to Karadut, I smashed 13km of Mt Nemrut in 1h 51mins (Karadut Pension to the carpark at the top) for a ‘peak’ at the Turkish sunset.
Unfortunately it was completely overcast so I saw nothing, the walk however wasn’t bad. Smooth road, a few streams, some snow and some decent views. At the top I met an old Turkish couple who spoke German, this put me to the test; don’t think I went too badly, although it’s clear I need to purchase a ‘how to speak German’ book ASAP; would be a useful skill.
The giant heads at the top were interesting but the night time photography antics with 2 locals was better. Hectic.
